What Type of Blog Do You Want to Start?

When you are talking about essential blogging, a question is instantly posed: what do you want out of your blog? Many people assume that all blogs are the same but there are many different types of blogs and part of any blogger’s thought process for a new blog is what will my audience want? This article will explain the different types of blogs and to what audience it may appeal.

There are many personal blogs. People write these and often share them with friends and family. These have also been used for some media types who socialize often with the famous as a sort of stream of consciousness blog.

There are business blogs. This is a way to communicate with customers of the business. It may be a way to start developing a buzz around a new product or to get feedback about how a company is doing. A good example of a business blog is one kept by GoDaddy’s CEO, Bob Parsons.

There are blogs specifically focused around a certain theme such as politics or travel. Some businesses may keep travel blogs as they travel around the world. This may happen if they are promoting guidebooks on famous places perhaps. This is where your blog will likely fit in because the best blogs focus on a specific niche and build off of that. Your blog cannot be everything to everyone.

There is question blogging. This is focused around answering questions. These may be simple questions that are received on a website or are picked up from a different location. This may be a good way to go if you have a product that is difficult to explain. It can be a way to provide customer service so that people feel connected and happy as they are using the product.

Blogging can also be broken down by the type of device used. A blog written on a mobile phone is called a moblog. An example that you can think of is Twitter, where you can send short messages and it will automatically update your readers that you have a new message.

This is just a short list of the different types of blogging that can be done. It comes down to knowing what type of blog you want to start and then having the essential blogging skills. That is a topic for a different article but it comes down to knowing the right way to develop your blog to be a powerful marketing tool for your business if that is the angle you are going for.
